The Senior Solution Designer is responsible for engaging in projects to assess technical risks, identify the teams that need to be engaged and the level of change that will be necessary to fulfill the project's objectives. In doing so, the position is responsible for ensuring that the proposed component level changes form a coherent whole that most effectively meets the business need. These activities will be used for planning, scheduling, scope definition, and assessment of project business cases.

This position requires both a technical background and an understanding of the principals of SDLC, and the ability to coordinate and lead projects with little to no guidance. This position typically reports to the Director, New Technologies.

Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate the development of end-to-end solutions to meet agreed business requirements
  • Analyzes, designs, develops, deploys, and leads a time-phased resolution plan when IT based issues arise
  • Representing technical change through the corporate governance processes that track and permit project progress
  • Ensures that the technical designs deliver the most effective customer experience
  • Develops custom scripts, tools, and programs in the support of the engineering team
  • Develops custom solutions to complex IT problems in a very distributed environment
  • Creates deployable applications and MSI installer files using third party packaging tools
  • Coordinates and leads projects from start to completion with little to no guidance
  • Implements new technologies in unique and innovating ways
  • Builds communication channels between the various teams involved in deployment of both client facing and internal applications

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
  • Requires a BSCS, BSIS, Associate's degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Requires 10 years of experience in design and development with 2 years at the technical lead level
  • At least 2 years of experience with process improvement and life cycle development preferred
  • Requires development experience in both structured and object-oriented languages such as C#
  • Requires database design and/or administration experience in one of the following: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle 10g/11g, IBM DB2 or MySQL
  • Requires experience in 1, 2, and 3-tier architectures, day-to-day functionality of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and InfoPath) products and the customization and development in said products, and web based solution development
  • Requires familiarity with Azure and other cloud platforms
  • Experience with domain design, creating design documentation, and artifact creations preferred
  • Possession of certification in object-oriented languages such as C# a plus
  • Requires willingness to travel to support remote locations
