Job Description


The Paralegal is responsible for providing legal support within the Legal department and managing processes to assist in improving the efficiency. The position will require performing a variety of paraprofessional duties, assisting with legal and compliance matters, working on assigned projects, and providing general and administrative support to the Legal team. This position will assist primarily with employment related matters and litigation. In this position, exercising professional judgment and discretion is critical. This is a non-exempt position and typically reports to an attorney.

Essential Functions:

•Provides legal support in one or more of the following specific areas: litigation and employment law
•Maintains various legal documents
•Creates, tracks, and manages matters within a Matter Management & E-Billing Program
•Composes correspondence and documents for review by attorney
•Conducts a wide variety of complex legal and compliance research as requested by in-house clients and attorneys
•Works independently with in-house clients and attorneys in legal department under general supervision of an attorney.
•Takes initiative on projects as needed


Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

•Requires a Bachelor’s degree
•Requires a legal assistant and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program
•Requires in-depth understanding of legal terminology
•Requires proficiency in PC applications such as MS Word and MS Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
•Requires experience interacting with associates at all levels, works under close supervision on specific assignments but also the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks based on attorney needs
•Requires strong technical, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
•Requires general knowledge of legal file/database maintenance and research software
•Requires ability to work in a fast-paced environment; and ability to meet deadlines
•Requires strong organizational skills and ability to be very detail-oriented
